Sydney $0.98 $0.98 $314

  Sample Answer

  The table illustrates the price mechanism for water in five different areas in the year 2004 in Australia.

  It is clear that the water price in most cities kept stable. Overall, the expenditure on water was highest in Perth in this table.

  We can see from the table that people could enjoy the lowest water price in Adelaide and Perth, at $0.42 per kilo liter. However, the water prices in these two cities increased dramatically to $1.00 and $1.50 respectively when the consumption exceeded 125 kilo liter. In terms of spending on water annually, $335 would be paid in each household, compared with $310 in Adelaide.

  Residents living in Sydney were charged the highest price, with nearly $1.00 per kilo liter, followed by Melbourne ($0.83) and Brisbane ($0.78) respectively. However, although the water price in Melbourne ranked the second in the table, its household water bill was the minimum in the table, at $278.

With the increasing use of mobile phone and computer, people are losing the ability to communicate face to face. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

  It is true that people now have easy access to many things-information, people and places via mobile phones and computers. However, despite many benefits of these high-tech equipment,the exponentialgrowth of this digital technology might affectreal-life interaction negatively.

  Firstly, the excessive use of computers is likely to influence children’s communication skills. Today, whatsapp, Facebook androle playing gamesare so attractive that they start to take up more of children’s time, fragment their activities and distract their attention.Scientists say that this may destroy the ability to focus. However, without this ability, students might havelow learning efficiency and poor academic performance. What’s worse, those who do less well in examination may feel embarrassed and less confident when socializing with good performers, so that they may choose to make friends online or just live in their virtual world.

  In addition, adults relying heavily on digital devices have difficulty in interaction as well. According to the research, most young adultswho are addicted to mobile phones do not know how to start a proper face-to-face conversationwhen they have to meet strangers, because they have social awkwardness and anxiety. However, there are many important occasions where require a good communication, such as a date with the beloved, an important interview and the wedding speech.Insufficient communication skills might lead to unintended consequences.

  In conclusion, in many cases, having a cell phone and laptop can be a huge help. But we need to avoid some bad cell phone habits and stop being the digital dummies.
