  雅思OG写作Test5 Task1参考范文:

The pie charts illustrate the proportions of online sales of four categories: travel, film or music, books and clothes in New Zealand in two separate years 2003 and 2013.

As the information shown in the charts highlights, online sales in areas of travel and clothes showed downward trends between the years 2003 and 2013. Sales within the travel sector took up the majority of online sales in 2003, with a figure of 36%, however, they had dropped to 29% by 2013. Similarly, the clothing industry accounted for 24% of total online sales in 2003, however, this proportion of overall sales fell sharply to 16% in 2013.

In contrast, the other two sectors presented the opposite trend. Purchasing films and music online grew in popularity and the figure rose significantly from 21% to 33%, occupying the biggest proportion of overall market share in 2013 for online goods. Online sales of books also grew, but much less significantly, rising from juts 19% to 22%.

Overall, it is clear that in terms of online retail, consumers from New Zealand spent more money on travel in 2003 while the largest amount of online expenditure in New Zealand in 2013 was on film or music.

  雅思OG写作Test5 Task2 解题思路:

Nowadays technology is increasingly being used to monitor what people are saying and doing (for example, through cellphone tracking and security cameras). In many cases, the people being monitored are unaware that this is happening.

Do you think the advantages of this development outweigh the disadvantages?

  A.利>弊

Today, advanced technology enables governments or organizations to monitor citizens. Surveillance cameras can be seen in almost every corner of a city, recording every action of the general public. Even the things that people talk about on their mobile phones can be monitored. Consequently, people’s privacy is being invaded. The trend brings both merits and problems.

Admittedly, there are certain advantages to systematic monitoring, such as exerting a deterring effect on crime. For example, thieves are likely to think twice about stealing in a supermarket when they see the warning: Cameras In Operation. What is more, the material recorded by CCTV or mobile phones is helpful, providing sufficient clues and evidence to the police in investigations.

Despite the benefits, problems of the phenomenon cannot be denied. For individuals, personal information, such as photos, I.D.s and bank account information they share on the internet is likely to be used by others for financial benefit. Furthermore, the sharing of private information contributes to problems, like endless calls from sales, threats to account safety or even crime. Another problem is that the installation of surveillance means that there is no privacy for anyone. Being photographed by CCTV or being recorded by mobile phone tracking makes many people uncomfortable, especially females. For companies, they might lose in the intense market competition if their important data were stolen by cell phone tracking.

There is no denying that along with the rapid development of technologies, there will be opportunities to monitor citizens. But we have to make sure that the point is to maintain social security and stability rather than to invade ordinary people’s privacy for profits. Therefore, strict laws should be applied to protect every citizen’s human rights in the information era.
