南威尔士大学（University of South Wales），成立于2013年。2012年位于威尔士的纽波特 （Newport）和格拉摩根（Glamorgan）正式宣布，将综合2地的资源，于南威尔士当地开发一所创新型态的高等教育学校。其后并于2013年合并2所当地的大学: 格拉摩根大学 （University of Glamorgan）和威尔士纽波特大学（University of Wales, Newport），成立了南威尔士大学（University of South Wales）。此大学的校园为英国校园占地广大之大学前10名，亦是威尔士当地学生人数最多的大学（约33500位学生），并招收来自60多个国家的学生，每年平均拥有4500名海外学生，是英国少数华人较少的学校，为国内学生提供了一个国际化的环境。学校在教学上特别注重学生能力的培养，以利未来职场上的发挥，本校的毕业生就业率高达93%。
格拉摩根大学（University of Glamorgan）源于1913年所成立的位于南威尔士蒙默思郡的矿业学院，于1992年获得独立的格拉摩根大学头衔。学校的商务研究、矿业勘测、电子电力工程、会计与金融等多个专业教学质量获评优秀。
威尔士纽波特大学（University of Wales, Newport）的前身是一所技术性学校，专门培养专业的技术人员，合并了卡瑞里昂教育学校、纽波特艺术设计学校和吉文技术学校，于1992年正式赋予大学头衔，并于2004年确认 “威尔士纽波特大学” 此名称。大学的艺术学院于当地相当出名，学院的学生深获当地企业青睐。
综合了2所学校的优点，南威尔士大学拥有自己的电影学院、摄影学院、动画专业技术、广播工作室、名声享誉的剧场设计；毕业学生包括得奖的诗人、编剧和作者等。学校和当地相关企业有着紧密的合作关系，提供研究和实习机会，如：英国航空、电子科技、Sony、NHS、BBC等。因其专业研究领域，此大学为威尔士前五大知名大学之一，其研究领域包含: 可持续能源、教育发展、创意产业、企业创新、运动伤害等。于2007年起，毕业于威尔士皇家音乐与戏剧学院（Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama）的学生亦授予南威尔士大学的学位。

学校设施
南威尔士大学投资大量资金用于现代化的设施建设，提供了学生与教职员一个舒适的读书与教学环境。
校园里有许多良好的读书空间，学习中心分别位在校内三个不同的地方，提供学生与教职员高质量的图书馆、信息与数字服务，全天开放，供学生阅读数据、欣赏音乐和电影；对学生全面开放酒吧、餐厅、新颖的咖啡厅以及 Party 房和一流的信息器材与运动设备。
大学拥有优质的运动中心，每个礼拜都有校内球队与英国大学联盟（BUSA）的球队比赛。经常有职业球队到大学作训练：Welsh 国际足球队、Cardiff FC、Cardiff Blues、South Africa、All Blacks 等橄榄球队。
近几年学校的运动水平提高，积极培养学生在空手道、英式橄榄球、足球、高尔夫球、曲棍球、篮球等领域，许多球队在国内外亦有优异的表现。
南威尔士大学有5个校区：
Treforest Campus 翠佛瑞校区：主校区，亦为学校最大的校区，四周围绕着绿色的山丘，大部分的学院和部门均设在此处，距离卡迪夫（Cardiff）仅20分钟车程，大众交通工具（地铁、公交车）都相当便利，为物价低廉的学生城。
Glyntaff Campus 格林塔夫校区：距翠佛瑞校区步行约10分钟，校内有许多红砖建筑，为生命科学和教育学院的所在地，护理、运动科学等课程亦在此处上课。
Cardiff Campus 卡迪夫校区：于2007年成立，位于威尔士首府卡迪夫市中心，主要教学大楼为 “ATRiuM Building”，为创意产业学院所在地，其学院中一些专业课程于Atlantic House授课；主修时尚的学生则于 Cromwell House 授课，校区靠近卡迪夫皇后街火车站，交通相当便利。
Caerleon Campus 卡瑞里昂校区: 位于威尔士纽波特北部的郊区，为摄影学院和教师训练课程的所在地。
Newport City Campus 纽波特校区: 位于威尔士的阿斯克河（River Usk）西面，斥资三百五十万英镑所打造的校区，于2011年正式启用。
课程介绍
南威尔士大学以能够提供多样性和不同水平的专业课程而自豪。校内的国际英语中心也提供不同的英语课程以协助国际学生提升英语能力。所有的课程都接受英国质量保障局（QAA） 的严格质量监控。该大学开设多个专业课程，涉及艺术人文、社会科学、商务、法律、设计、工程、计算机科技、自然科学与数学、护理等各领域。
